Let me be real clear, though, in order to make any beneficial gains in fat loss and muscle increase, you have to adhere to a more positive lifestyle, and start eating and working out like an athlete. Simply put, you have to stop eating crap foods that do nothing to build muscle...but are easily stored as fat on your abs, butt and thighs.
What are crap foods? Those that taste delicious...but are loaded with carbs, fats, calories, and chemicals. The two biggest saboteurs of mens fat loss are sugar foods and starchy processed foods. Neither do anything to make you more muscular or appealing to women.
Reality Check #2 - It took several years for you to get soft-looking and flabby...it is going to take some time, and focused effort to become more hard and muscular. Forget that fast-fat-loss crap that supposedly gets you ripped in three weeks. It is not reality (well..unless you are taking massive doses of steroids.) You need to think in terms of months, at the beginning.
Dedicating six months to integrate new eating habits and get your body strong enough to finish an interval workout is about right. If you try to cut corners with supplements, or backslide into toxic habits, you will never get off Square 1.
Mens Fitness Nutrition - Male belly fat
Male belly fat is a dual-threat to all guys. Why? First, it is a serious health issue. Male belly fat has been directly associated with maladies like: Erectile Dysfunction, kidney problems, skin problems, Type II diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and certain specific cancers.
Secondly, and this is a killer socially, male belly fat is a huge sexual turn-off for women. Think about it...do chicks really envision themselves going to bed with a guy built like a walrus? I mean, come on man, do you really think women get turned on looking at pictures of chubby guys? Hell no. They trade pictures on their iPhones of athletes and action stars, with their girl friends. NOT pictures of guys with the body of a Florida manatee.
Mens Fitness Nutrition - What's it all about?
Mens fitness nutrition is about getting you accurate information on making changes in your lifelong eating habits to not only get rid of flabby love handles and rolls of abdominal fat, but also to keep it off for life. It is about helping you find quality workouts (both strength building and cardio) to help you build lean muscle to increase your metabolism naturally. It is about you becoming more ripped, more muscular, and having more energy in everyday life...and in bed.
Look, there will have to be major changes in your current diet. Sugar foods like colored cereals, doughnuts, desserts, bakery items/pastries, pop, chocolate milk, and phony energy bars have to go. All those foods are doing is elevating your blood sugar levels to be transported off and stored as fat.
Processed foods will be the toughest to give up because they are loaded with huge amounts of fat to make them taste delicious. Trust me, guys fail to get rid of belly fat and get lean because they refuse to dump foods like pizza, bagels, pasta with creamy sauces, buffalo wings, fried chicken, double-cheeseburgers, and bread sticks.
You have a choice to make. Do you want to look different six months form now, or do you like what you see in the mirror, each morning? When you start eating more consciously, becoming more aware of what you are putting in your mouth and how it will affect your body, you will start seeing results.
Mens Fitness Nutrition - So what do I eat?
To reduce your percent body fat and build lean muscle, the majority of your food choices must come from natural foods...those produced by Mother Nature. Fresh raw fruits and vegetables are swollen with vitamins and minerals necessary to increase both your health and your musculature.
In order to recover from your workouts and build lean muscle to give you more definition, you must eat solid protein sources like lean steaks, turkey meat, wild fish, grilled chicken breasts...and even buffalo and venison.
Forget about protein smoothies and shakes. Guys go overboard on that stuff and end up looking fat. Eat solid protein to satiate your hunger. Every meal and snack should include one fruit, one vegetable, and one solid protein source.
What About Workouts?
Losing fat is great, but in order to be the best male you can possibly be, you must build quality muscle. This will take some effort. Not huge amounts of time, because you want to train like an athlete (brief, explosive, intense)...but your workouts will require focus and some courage. Guys say they want to look like an NFL defensive back...but few admit they do not mind getting real sweaty, getting completely out of breath, and getting real red in the face.
You will focus on multi-joint, strength training workouts with weights, and cardio that includes interval workouts once you become strong enough.
The lifts you will do are fundamental to all athletes: Benches, Squats, Deadlifts, Rows, Dips, Pull-Ups, Push-Ups, and Seated Dumbbell Presses. These movements require at least two joints and innervate the largest muscles in your body. You will change workouts frequently. You will NOT mess around with iPods or cell phones. You will workout like an athlete.
Mens Fitness Nutrition - Proven programs to help you become more muscular
I will promote two main programs to help you get the body you want. One will be Burn The Fat - Feed The Muscle, by Tom Venuto, and the other is The Primal Blueprint 21 Day Body Transformation, by Mark Sisson.
Both of these programs focus on optimal nutrition, no-nonsense food choices, and high-intensity workouts lasting less than an hour. You cannot go wrong with either.
Nobody wants a soft, flabby body. You can only get harder and more muscular by putting in the time and a solid effort.
Mens Fitness Nutrition will help get you the body you want.
